Prepping Your Pinecones
Before you set out to do your crafts with pinecones it is always best to prep them. In other words, making sure they are clear of bugs & insects. Sometimes little creatures use pinecones for their homes. Especially when found in the woods! When doing our pinecone snow owls it inspired us to find out more about owls. There are lots of great books on owls both factual and fiction.
Owl babies is one of our very favourites which is a classic for children to enjoy. This story tells the tale of a mother owl who leaves her children in the tree while she hunts for food.
Children can relate to the baby owls and will find the ending heart-warming. ❤️
Making Your Snow Owls
Once your pinecones have been cleaned and prepped, set out your craft items. For your snow owls you will need;
- Pinecones (wider pinecones work best)
- Cotton wool
- Hot Glue
- Googly Eyes
- Orange Foam
- White Feathers (optional)

Once you have applied your owls eyes and beak, you can decide on whether you want feathers or not. We gave two of our owls feathers and they looked pretty cute. But alternatively you can opt for no feathers.

Your Pinecone snow owls are finished. A cute little autumn craft to do with the kids.
