For these butterflies you will need;
- Pom Poms
- Card Stock
- Scissors
- Markers/Pencil
- Googly Eyes
- Wire
- Hot Glue

Deciding Which Glue To Use
Hot glue will work best on your pom pom butterflies as you are sticking wire but you can always decide not to use the wire and then regular school glue will work.

For the butterflies wings, you will need to cut out each wing to make it symmetrical. Below shows an example of how we did this.

Next you can decorate your wings how you wish. Perhaps give it some pretty stripes or spots. Maybe do a cool little design on there. Its your butterfly so you can make it your own.

Putting Your Butterfly Together
To make antennae for your pom pom butterflies you can use wire. However if you don’t have wire you can use pipe cleaners or whatever else you can find. Hot glue sticks to the wire pretty well so we decided to use that.
We used these craft pliers but if you don’t have them, scissors should work too.

Apply some hot glue to the middle part of your wings and lay the wire across it. Hold it in place for a few seconds.

Then lastly, apply more hot glue & lay your butterfly body over the wire/ middle. Your butterfly is finished! You can curl the antennae to open out a little.

Such cute little butterflies that can be put on display all year round. How about placing a magnet on the back so you can put it on the fridge. And if you like this butterfly activity check out this colour matching activity.
