Taste Testing < Crafty-Mummy

This taste testing experiment was a fun one to try. With surprising results. One of my kids is particularly fussy when it comes to eating and trying things. I am sure we’ve all got them 😉

Often she won’t even let new tastes touch her lips so this was an exciting experiment to do. Of course having her older brother around to ‘egg’ her on was a bonus as he is a great eater and very adventurous when it comes to trying things but even he surprised me with this one 🤣

Doing Our Experiment

The kids were blind folded and I found different food items for them to taste. Of course you have to be aware of allergies in this experiment but luckily my two don’t have any so I was able to test their taste buds to the max.. much to their disgust LOL!

The Results

My daughter surprised me! Not only by trying things I never thought she would, but also giving it a thumbs up.

My son (the good eater) tried everything of course but surprisingly disliked some of the tastes. I guess I just assumed he would like everything lol! Of course some of these things are an acquired taste and even I don’t like the taste on their own, but this was a fun activity to see their reactions!!

The kids recorded their reactions as we tasted. I think even they were surprised with their answers.

We will definitely be trying this experiment again with different tastes. It’s a good way to get those fussy eaters to try things that they might not usually be inclined to try.

I am thinking our next taste test will be different meals that I have prepared. Like I mentioned before my son will try things. And as he gets older he is getting more adventurous. However he still insists that he will never like mushrooms! I am thinking if those mushrooms are hidden the kids are non the wiser lol!

My daughter won’t try things if she doesn’t like the look of a food, no matter how pretty and colourful this mama makes it 🙄 But this is a good opportunity to get those taste buds going!
