Little hands love creating. So what better way to get them creating than with this sticky wall fun activity using foam blocks!

We had purchased some foam coloured blocks when my son was little. They came in so useful for so many fun activities.

We managed to pick some up from our local dollar friendly store. However you can buy different variations of them online. The bright coloured bricks work well for this activity but you can also use tanned blocks. You just have to make sure they are foam as they are lighter and will stick easier.

Getting Creative

This sticky wall activity is just one way to get creative using these foam blocks. All you need is some contact adhesive paper which you can purchase in stationary stores, or online.

This stuff works great, but it is a little fiddly so you have to have patience while unpeeling it.

The idea is to peel it and place it on the wall with the sticky side facing outwards. Like I said it is fiddly but with a little perseverance it works.

Getting It Onto The Wall

To get it on the wall you can use masking tape along the edges. Something colourful or dark works well then your child can see where their ‘creation’ frame is appose to the wall behind it.

Once your sticky wall is up, let the creations begin!

This part is fun to watch, so grab a coffee and let them go to town making their pictures. 😉

Because there are different shapes among the blocks, the kids can go crazy making their pictures. We made robots, cars, buildings and boats.

There are times when your blocks might fall if they aren’t stuck on tight, or if your contact paper has been used lots and starts losing its sticky texture. But all in all this activity worked well.

My son loved this activity and if we’d had more blocks we would probably have made our wall bigger!

My son even started adding other blocks to his wall. He had some small wooden craft blocks which he used for legs.

*If you really wanted to get crafty, you can even provide the kids with other lightweight items such as, cotton wool, yarn, pom poms. Whatever you have lying around? Sticky wall fun can be anything that provides creativity.

Another great activity that we have done with these foam blocks;

How about shaving foam and using it as ‘glue’ to build the blocks with? This is fun and messy, but kids LOVE messy!
