There are so many slime recipes. Kids love slime. Why? Because its messy! Adults not so much. Why? Because its messy! 😆This rainbow slime is a great one to do for kids that love colours and rainbows.

Seriously though there are some easy and great slime recipes that will keep the kids entertained. I have found that slime is good to have around while your prepping dinner. It gives the kids something to do when they are hovering around the kitchen.

This is just one of the many different slime recipes that we have tried and wanted to share!

Getting it Right!

We have found that when we do these slime recipes, you often have to tweak it a little just to get it at the right consistency. It hasn’t to be too sticky but just enough that it will be stretchy and pliable.

To create this rainbow slime we used clear glue and made a batch of each so that we had various colours. You can always skip the colour part with this slime and you will have SEE-THROUGH SLIME instead of rainbow slime!

We used;

  • 140ml (5fl oz) Clear Craft Glue
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 120ml (4fl oz) Warm Water
  • Eye Wash (Must contain Boric Acid or Sodium Borate)
  • Gel/Liquid Food Colour (optional)

Mix the baking soda into the water until it is dissolved. Then add the glue and food colour. Stir small amounts of eye wash until the glue starts to become gloopy and stretchy.

The gloopy mixture will seem very sticky. Just add more eye wash and it will gradually start to become more pliable.

The slime should form into a ball easily once it’s ready. We made 5 different colours so that we could make our rainbow slime.

Making Your Rainbow Slime

Any slime that is made with glue will be stretchy. This stuff feels awesome once the stickiness subsides. If you stretch it out you can actually see through it. Clear glue even more so. But even when you create your rainbow slime your kids will be able to see through it.

The kids had so much fun stretching each colour out. They lined the colours up and rolled them together to make their rainbow slime.

The colours look so lovely when they are all entangled together.

One thing I will warn you about this slime is that if you mix the colours together, eventually the slime will start to go a gooey green colour. My two didn’t mind this and actually thought it was pretty cool.

The kids loved putting the slime into a plastic cup and making rude noises with it lol!

It was cool watching it overflow like a volcano!

We have made lots of different slime recipes but this one was definitely one of the kids favourites. Check out some of our other favourites. ❤️
