This is one of the best slime recipes we have done by far. Not only can you blow bubbles with it- hence the name bubble blowing slime!
You can also watch it melt. When I say ‘melt’ I mean, through the eye it looks like its melting. It is so cool to watch. We set time lapse on and let it do it’d thing! The result was so fun.
For this Slime recipe we used;
- 1/2 Cup of School Glue
- 1/2 Cup of Water
- 1 Tsp of Borax Powder dissolved into 1 Cup of Water
- Food Colour (optional)
Mix the teaspoon of borax powder into the 1 cup of water until it is dissolved. Meanwhile mix glue into the 1/2 cup of water. Then add glue mixture in with the borax mixture. Add colour at this stage.
If mixture might seem stringy but will eventually combine to form a ball. Get rid of any excess water.
Then watch the fun begin. Place the slime over a rack with holes in it. Something like this dish drainer works well.
It is a waiting game for little ones and my son got a bit bored halfway through lol! You’ll see him wonder off in the video 🤣 However once the slime starts falling through the holes, its amazing to watch! We set our camera to time lapse which made it go faster. Then we wanted to capture some pictures of the slime. Check out our time lapse video below. ⬇️
My son grabbed some scissors and started cutting the ‘ribbons’ of slime as they fell to the table. It was mesmerizing to watch.
The weight of the slime was making the slime droop and settle into the gaps of the drainer.
You can also lay something underneath and catch the slime as it falls.
Watching it Fall
You can set a timer and leave the slime to fall all the way through to see how long it takes. My son was too impatient to do that and just wanted to play with it. Understandable lol!
Making Bubbles
To make bubbles you just need a straw and some air in the slime to get you started. So long as you can get an air bubble in the slime, the kids can easily blow into a straw and make the bubble bigger. Very cool!
Slime-Tastic Fun
Once you’ve made ribbons and blew bubbles, your bubble blowing slime is good to play with. I provided my son with some plastic letters and got him to print out some short words for letter practice. This slime is pretty durable so it can be rolled out, stretched out, rolled into a ball, and good for cutting.
*Because this recipe has BORAX in it, it makes it extra flexible and stretchy. I will warn you that it is certainly not edible. Small children will need supervision for this activity.
Here is another cool slime recipe to try with the kids for some sensory fun.
