These chicks are precious and such a nice keepsake for the kids scrapbooks. Easter is such a fun time to do crafts. For our chicks we didn’t have yellow paper plates so we started by painting ours.
If you have yellow paper plates then you can go straight into making your chicks. But we did have to wait till our plates dried, although my daughter did enjoy this part as she loves to paint. I just gave her some paper to create her own picture whilst we set the plate aside to dry.
For our chicks we used;
- Paper Plates
- Yellow paint if you are using white plates
- Orange paper
- Yellow feathers
- Googly eyes
- Glue sticks
- Markers (optional)
- Scissors
We cut our orange paper into strips firstly to make some legs. We then cut two feet shapes and a beak which was just a diamond shape. The legs are then folded back and forth to make a fan like spring. Little ones sometimes need a little bit of help with this part.
We then folded our beak and stuck glue on half of the diamond leaving the other half open.
We then stuck our legs to our chick and added some feathers. For our eyes my daughter first decided to draw her eyes on with a marker. But then she decided to use goggly eyes instead. Both look cute and work just the same.
This craft doesn’t take very long to do especially if you don’t have to paint the plate. But it looks rather cute when its finished.
