This is a great Easter craft but can be done any time of year especially for those little bunny fans in your house. My son and I made these when he was little so we thought we’d do them again with his sister now she’s old enough to participate. She is a huge fan of bunnies!!
First gather up some things around the house. These are no sew bunnies so are pretty easy to assemble.
You need;
- Rice
- Elastic bands
- Odd or old socks
- A glass
- A marker
- Ribbon

Adult socks work better obviously because they are bigger but you can do smaller bunnies with small socks. I would say it might just be a bit more fiddly. Using a glass just makes it easier to pour the rice into the sock but you also put the rice in with an extra pair of hands to help open the sock.

You will have to keep lifting your sock out and shaking the rice down so that you can add more. We used about 2 and half cups for each bunny but you can judge it as you pour.
The next step is to secure the rice. Using an elastic band will keep it tightly closed and is a lot more difficult for little hands to pull off than just tying it with ribbon.

Then secure the middle part of the bunny with another band to make the head.

Your ears will droop quite a bit so you can cut them to however long or short you want them. My kids wanted their bunnies with floppy ears but we trimmed them a little. I opted for shorter ears just to see the difference. They do stand up a little the more you cut off.
Trim the top of the ears first to get the desired length you want. Then cut down the middle to make two ears. Little ones will need help with this step as you have to use sharp scissors to get through the sock.

We then made a tail by tying another elastic band in the back and making a small ball shape.
My kids then drew faces on their bunnies with a marker. You can always add yarn as the whiskers at this step but as we chose not to use glue or sew for this craft, so we just drew on faces/whiskers.
The final step was adding some ribbon to the middle part of the bunny. This step is optional but it just adds a nice decorative touch to the bunny and hides the elastic band.

My daughter loved the bunnies and added them to her collection. These are pretty easy to do and make a nice gift or even a nice decoration at easter time. 🐰❤️
